#What I Wore

Hello, Everyone! I don’t know if any of you remember this, but a few years back, Staples aired a commercial with a parent out with his children picking up school supplies, and as they were shopping, you see the father flying down the aisles on the cart, bright-eyed, mouth wide open, showcasing the biggest smile, as his kids lethargically trudged behind him…the kick was the music, though…Andy Williams was singing, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year…” and no, it wasn’t a Christmas Ad, but a back to school one. I would stop everything to see this commercial, because it was hilarious for two reasons: the first was because I am a parent, and understand that by summer’s end, we are ready to ship our kids off somewhere, anywhere, school or the next continent, but more so, because I am a teacher and know that this is the classic case scenario with high schoolers come September.

This week, however, was the last full week of classes for my students (and myself) and I think we all wanted to sing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year…” while at the same time feeling like we were taking a clip out of the Bill Murray movie, Ground Hog’s Day…because I am not going to lie…although the thrill of summer is amongst us, every day felt like a Monday.

Good thing I had the “Outfit of the Day” looks to help motivate me to get out of bed and fight the good fight! I especially had fun styling a dress I received in the mail from The Lily James Collection, a cute online boutique selling classy, whimsical, eclectic pieces for the modern lady (more info on how to receive discounts on your orders in my next post)!

So take a peek at this week’s looks. As always, all looks (or similar) are linked for your shopping convenience!

Look #1: Fresh Linen…(a very popular commodity on this week’s Instagram Feed…so here are the details!)

Look #3: Dusters and Denim…

tank

Found this soft, open-knit, tan duster/maxi vest on the clearance rack for around $12 at Macy’s a few weeks back. Although I could not link this exact one (which retailed for $49.99), I linked their current dusters (sleeveless and full sleeve) all currently on sale!

Junior’s Printed-Crotchet Tank Top purchased on sale for $15.99 (retails for $17.99). Found a similar top retailing for $24.99 at Target (I searched online for the same top, but could only find similar…you may have better luck in the stores)

Women’s Rockstar Jeans purchased  at Old Navy for $34.94, and are currently on sale for $28. Not only were they affordable, they were soft, comfortable and the fabric had the perfect stretch without loosening up as the day goes on (one of my biggest pet peeves)

Women’s Tracey Quarter Strap Sandals purchased for $32.99 recently at  Target and currently on sale for under $25!

Look #4: After a 3:45 wake-up…going to work in the closest things to P.J.s was the only thing that was going to get me through an exhausting day…oh yeah, and lots of coffee!

palazzo

Women’s Vintage Black V-Neck Tee scored on sale for $6.99 last weekend at Target (retails for $9.00, or currently 3 for $24)

Women’s Palazzo Pants from Target-retails for $19.99

Black flip-flops are from last summer’s Lauren Conrad Collection at Kohl’s, purchased on sale for $10 (current seasonal styles are linked and are on sale for $12.99)

Look #5: Fun Friday with a fun peasant top…

pheasant

Women’s Crochet-Embroidered Yoke Top, recently purchased from Target for $22.99

Gap Factory Boyfriend Jeans currently on sale for $40.99, but retail for $59.99 (linked is there up-to-date style which I believe is much better than the pair I have, because they’re more distressed now) Sign up with Gap Factory, and receive a cheaper offer with their daily discounts

Women’s Tracey Quarter Strap Sandals purchased for $32.99 recently at  Target and currently on sale for under $25!

Whether you’re in the education setting or not, may the thought of summer and sun bring you peace and feelings of being rest assured that although your shopping cart may be full, the checkout line is just around the next aisle.

X, Danielle
