February’s Fashion Favorites

Hello, Everyone! What a whirlwind of a month this has been, and I can’t believe March has crept up on us so soon-but I can’t complain, because although I love layering up for the (semi) cold winter months we’ve been experiencing in the great northeast, I am ready to share some fresh new looks with spring right around the corner.

Today, I am going through my monthly round-up of favorite looks based off of my Instagram feed…so check it out, and hopefully it helps gives you some style inspiration for the (warmer) weeks ahead!

And as always, all looks, or similar are linked for your purchasing convenience.

Look #1:

In last week’s post I talked about these style challenges I have been a part of for the past month, and the different themes associated with each of the 7 I have been partcipating in. For this look, it was all about “Winter Whites,” “Florals,” and “Blush,” so I incorporated a white blouse embroidered with white, lace flowers, a blush shade of pink cardigan, a pair of distressed jeans, and to tie up the look-my favorite pair of patterned heels…because a leopard print is a great way to make any look pop (and I love using the print as a neutral to mix with other patterns as well!) I say, “Whatever inspires you, make it happen!”

White blouse purchased a few years back from the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s Collection for around $20. Although this exact top is no longer in stock, I linked the tops in the line. What I love about shopping this brand at Kohl’s is that you’re getting a great quality brand that is not always on sale, but can be purchased at an even cheaper price if you sign up with Kohl’s to receive their additional savings

Pink Cardigan purchased on clearance for $10 from the Calvin Klein outlets an hour away from my home…what a steal! Although this is no longer available, I did link their similar cardigans. Linked are similar style and fabric cardigans for $12.99 from H&M

Gap Factory Boyfriend Jeans for around $30 on sale (shop similar style here)

Women’s Lainee Pumps in “Leopard”-purchased from Target this week for $29.99

Look #2:

This was one of those simple, yet sophisticated looks. Your basic black and white dress with clean lines, a pair of black tights and black suede booties to keep the look dressy, but still easy enough to maneuver around my classroom!

Striped Dress from H&M retails for $49.95, but currently on sale for $35

Opaque tights purchased on clearance from GAP last year after Christmas for around $6-retail for $14.50 (currently on sale for $11.21)

Black Suede Sam & Libby Booties purchased a few years back from Target for $39.99 (similar style linked)

Look #3:

If you’ve been following my blog from the start, you know that pattern mixing is right up there when it comes to what I love most about fashion. I have to stay on a budget, and for someone that loves shopping for clothes, it makes it very difficult to do when you’re constantly inspired with a turn of thee head, so by using a little creativity, I have been able to recycle my own wardrobe by mixing and matching, not only basic colors, but prints and fabrics as well!

Black and White Striped Cotton Turtleneck purchased on sale at Forever 21 for around $5

Blue plaid blazer purchased on clearance from Target for $7 a few weeks back (retails for 34.99 and the link shows that it is currently on sale for $24.48, so double check your local Target stores first)

The Limited skinny, dark denim jeans that I purchased the day after Christmas on sale for $28!!! Linked for your convenience, is their entire denim selection to help choose your style fit and wash

Vintage duck booties by the brand Quechee purchased a few weeks back at my local Salvation Army for $4

Look #4:

The best part about this look (other than my three year old sharing the limelight), is that this sweater dress can be so versatile. For this look I added a gingham patterned button down underneath, topped with a vest, and a pair of Chuck’s to mix preppiness with a touch of street style…later on in the day (on my Instagram account), I shared another way to wear this: adding a black and white shirt-dress layered underneath (a dress under a dress? Yes!), a black and white houndstooth vest, leg warmers, and black Hunter Rain Boots…or you could just simply wear the dress without the layers!

Navy and White Gingham Shirt-J. Crew Factory last fall on sale for $32-similar style linked and currently on sale for $44.50

Grey Sweatshirt Dress purchased on clearance this week for under $8 at Old Navy. Linked is their dress line, because I could not find this particular style on their site, but you can also check your local Old Navy store

Old Navy’s Mixed-Fabric Frost Free Vest in Navy-retails for $39.94, purchased on sale after discount of $25 plus another 20% off, due to their “After Christmas” sale. Currently on sale for under $20!!

Women’s White Chuck Taylor’s by Converse-retails between $49.99-55.00 at Kohl’s, purchased on sale with a coupon for $30, last spring

Look #5:

Another way to dress down your typical skirt and blouse look: add a cardigan with a print, a blazer (or jean jacket), and some sneakers…What could be just a typical white blouse and red skirt, now actually catches the eye with just one patter mix and a few layers, without looking too “busy.”

Button-down collared loose fitting blouse-Express last spring on sale for 29.99 (shop similar styles here)

Leopard Print Cardigan by Express, but purchased from the Poshmark app for around $10

Jean Jacket from GAP Factory (Spring ’14, shop similar style here-I paid $25.99-so sign up with them to receive your coupons automatically, too!) Currently not in stock, but you can easily purchase them at Target for the same price and just as good with the quality and variety

Red wool J. Crew skirt purchased pre-loved on the Poshmark app last year for $15.00

Women’s White Chuck Taylor’s by Converse-retails between $49.99-55.00 at Kohl’s, purchased on sale with a coupon for $30, last spring

Look #6:

This look was created completely based off of those Instagram style challenges…”Pink and Beige,” “Gold,” “POP of Pink,” and plenty of “Baubles/Jewels”

J.Crew Factory “Kiss” tee, purchased a few seasons back on sale for around $16…this print is no longer for sale, but their current collection, currently on sale for $27.50-29.50 is linked)

Gap Factory Linen, Charcoal Grey, Jersey Moto Jacket for around $30 last spring (currently only one blazer is for sale online, so I again, linked Target’s line, because they have a variety of styles for affordable prices, and they sell them throughout all seasons)

The Limited tweed blush pink mini skirt purchased on clearance for $6 a few years back (their skirt selection is linked)

Women’s Jennifer Pumps in Tan, purchased a few weeks back, on clearance for $15 from Target (usually retails for $29.99, on sale for $25)

Look #7:

This last look featuring the mini fashionista, incorporated the mix  of two patterns: floral and leopard, but I neutralized it with an ivory knit cardigan and some jeggings.

Floral blouse purchased for under $20 at Forever 21 a few years back. Linked is their blouse collection from their Spring line, as they have already transitioned into the next season. Short-sleeve styles can be found with this flowy fabric

Honeycomb cable-knit Cardigan: purchased for half-off the sale price of $49.99, during the post-holiday sales…so the total cost for this ivory knit cardigan was only $25!! It is still currently on sale for $49.99

The Limited skinny, dark denim jeans that I purchased the day after Christmas on sale for $28!!! Linked for your convenience, is their entire denim selection to help choose your style fit and wash

Women’s Lainee Pumps in “Leopard”-purchased from Target recently, for $29.99
