What I Wore (Week #10)

Hello, Hello! After a busy week with sick kids and a sick husband, sports, purchasing a new dishwasher, the Jets losing to the Bills, completing the tiling around our fireplace, a jewelry party, and plenty of Yoga to balance the chaos, it’s finally time to wind down and share with you this week’s looks! Enjoy!

..and remember, all looks, or similar, are linked for your convenience!

Look #1:

I jump-started the week in what seemed to be, some upcoming holiday cheer with creamy whites, wool, a plaid and stripes combo, and plenty of red…red…red!

Thin, nautical striped navy crew neck long-sleeved shirt purchased on a whim from a little hidden treasure known as Peter Harris Clothing a few weeks back for $5

Faded Glory, Women’s Long Sleeve Crew Neck Tee in red, from Walmart, purchased last week for its hefty retail price of $4.88 (couldn’t resist, so I bought two!)

Ivory Wool Mini Skirt from J. Crew, but purchased pre-owned for $5 at my local Salvation Army. A  piece of advice: don’t let the idea of “pre-owned” scare you. Some of my favorite pieces are pre-owned. As long as they are in new or like new condition, I am sold! Not to mention, if you’re willing to buy pre-owned anything, but always feel that you’re never lucky, you have to go on a day when you can give yourself time to really dig through the racks. They say patience is a virtue, and patience paid off for me when I found this treasure!

Plaid Scarf from Target last winter for around $19.99 (Shop similar styles here)

Wool-Blend Grey Knee Socks purchased this week from H&M for $9.99

Tan riding boots by the brand “MIA” from Marshall’s for $50 last winter

Look #2:

I felt like taking a chance this week with the whole “Canadian Tuxedo” look. So I threw a little denim over denim. The number one most important rule when mixing this fabric: make sure the fabric of each wash is different for each piece.

Chambray Shirt- J.Crew Factory (retails for $68.00, currently on sale for $40.50-I paid less than $40, but regardless the price-it’s well worth it!)

Denim Pencil Skirt: purchased from Gap Factory, late summer on sale for around $25.00

Thick, Brown Leather Belt (Purchased on sale at the GAP for $10 over 10 years ago…)

**A fall fashion print must have (not to mention, they act as a neutral and can go with just about anything): Snake Skin, leather-like pointed toe flats purchased last winter on sale for $15 at Express, retailed at $34.90 (similar style linked)

Look #3:

My favorite look of the week, because I was able to finally incorporate this autumn skirt that I haven’t worn since the first week of September, into a more suitable look for late autumn. And, I’m glad I was able to play it up with some very old pieces in my closet, that way it gave this entire look some new life again!

Button-down, flowy, ivory shirt with gold polka dots, purchased for around $20 at Target a few years back-similar style linked, on clearance, but solid colors only)

The French Connection black crew-neck sweater, which would usually purchase for well over $100, but I found this a few years back for only $30 at Marshall’s

Taupe, knitted Turtleneck Scarf purchased from GAP last winter on clearance for under $10-retailed for $30 (I was so obsessed I bought a second one in dark grey!! Unfortunately, I can no longer find them on their website)

Jacquard-Weave Skirt: H&M $24,99

Wool (over the knee) socks, purchased this week from Target for $9.99 (women’s socks linked)

Black, Glossy Hunter Rain boots-Purchased from Poshmark in new condition for $90-Retail price is usually around $150

Look #4:

I’m like a kid with a new toy whenever I purchase a new piece of clothing. So on this particular day, I was just too excited to wear one of my two new clearance finds from my Veterans Day Sale shopping. My favorite part about this outfit is the mix of neutrals: the marble design of the black and white sweater, draped over black and white stripes. Simplicity with a touch of sophistication…thank goodness for black and white color schemes!

Black and White Striped Crew Neck Shirt (length is that of a shirt dress), purchased on Veterans Day at Old Navy for $6 (retails for $16.90- currently on sale between $12-14, depending on color, but I could not find the stripes online). This was a steal, because I scoped out the Clearance racks after seeing this exact shirt in the store, and thought there was a mistake on the tag. When I brought it to the register, the employee said it was marked as “clearance,” because it was purchased online and in an “authentic” size, unlike the others they have in regular stock-no other damage.  So I was sold!

GAP Factory “marled open-front Cardigan” purchased Columbus Day Weekend for just about the same price it is currently on sale for ($29.99), but usually retails for $59.99-I absolutely love how soft and versatile this cardigan is…I’ve been pretty much living in it on weekends, and even throwing it on to run out for errands, or to the gym!

Charcoal Grey, knitted Turtleneck Scarf purchased from GAP last winter on clearance for under $10-retailed for $30. (Again, I can no longer find them on their website)

GAP Factory-Pencil Skirt (retails for $39.99, purchased on sale last week for 50% off plus an additional 15% from a coupon code on my last receipt)

Black Slip-Ons with thick white platform on clearance for $5 at Target, a few weeks back (similar style linked)

Look #5:

In the wise words of Kate Spade, “Playing dress-up begins at age 5, and never truly ends…” I’m taking this into consideration as I stock my holiday wardrobe full of glitter, plaid, and tulle, plenty of tulle…

red plaid, ruffled button-down by U.S. Polo Assoc., purchased for $20 a few years back at J.C. Penney (similar plaid styles are sold at almost all clothing retailers from GAP, Old Navy, Target, H&M, etc…and all for around $20-25)

Black tulle skirt purchased for under $15 a few years back on the poshmark app

Gold, glittery rope belt from Target last year for $12.99-Similar styles linked

Black, Leather Strappy Heels purchased last year from Kohl’s (Candies Brand). I was able to purchase them on sale, with an additional coupon for under $30. Luckily, I have linked this season’s spin on the heel, currently oh sale for $26.97

Hopefully I was able to add a little wardrobe inspiration to your looks for this upcoming week! This following Sunday, I will be doing a “Fall fashion Round-Up” of my 10 favorite looks from the past 10 weeks, before we transition into the long, wintery months…stay tuned!
