What I Wore (Week #9)

Hello, Monday! I don’t know about you, but for some reason, I am looking forward to a fresh start this week. Last week, I felt completely “off” almost every single day, and I just could not break out of the funk I was in. Between my youngest child getting sick and losing a night’s sleep because of it, I was also thrown off by how hectic my daily routine went…needless to say, comfort played a key role in my wardrobe this week. Between tending to a sick child, carpool rides to basketball practices with my oldest, the dishwasher at our new home giving way, and having my daughter’s birthday party, I will admit, some peace and quiet is well-deserved (and much needed) this week!

So, on that note: here’s a look at “What I Wore” for this chaotic week!

Don’t forget: all looks, or similar, have been linked for your convenience!

Look #1:

This outfit was actually inspired by a senior at the school I teach at…a few years back, it was brought to my attention that I had a twin (more like a younger-MUCH younger, twin). So this year, we had the idea to dress alike. However, because the idea was planned on a whim, this was what we coordinated-but really, can you ever go wrong with neutrals?

Black Slip-Ons with thick white platform on clearance for $5 at Target, last weekend (similar style linked)

Look #2:

Definitely wanted to add comfort to my look this day, but I didn’t want to seem frumpy, so I went with the effortless shift dress, that never seems to disappoint! Adding a striped, long-sleeved shirt, a cute scarf, and boots to the mix, breathes life into this basic navy dress.

Tan riding boots by the brand “MIA” from Marshall’s for $50 last winter

Look #3:

I always have fun wearing this vest! I can wear it to dress up or wear it when I’m trying to dress down, and it still keeps my look “put together.”  Believe it or not,  this was my most effortless style of the week. I literally threw on a pair of one of my “Walmart Favorites” (See my prior post on “What to Wear from Walmart”), a white blouse, and heels to help get past the fact that I opted for my yoga leggings, over black jeans while out and about. Can’t tell? The next time you feel the need to choose comfort over style, try rolling up the cuffs of your favorite leggings, throw on a long blouse (to cover your back end, and where the pockets would be) and you’ll have everyone fooled!

Look #4:

Of course, my favorite of the week, because I could live in these J. Crew skirts and the softest flannel that I’ve just added to my growing collection of button-downs (remember: perfect for layering!).Not to mention, I have a new fixation with over-the-knee socks to scrunch down over my boots…I’m starting to collect them in just about every texture, and in every neutral color

This was the morning after my sleepless night…so needless to say, I made it to work layered up with my favorite vest, some jeans, and another one of my great “Walmart” finds, just to turn around and go home halfway through the day to spend some much needed quality time with my sick, little birthday girl.
